Take control of your pasture and feed management to drive farm profitability and sustainability.
What you’ll learn
You’ll gain practical skills and knowledge to:
- Analyse pasture and feed components of profitable and sustainable dairy farms.
- Plan strategies and targets to optimise pasture growth and utilisation.
- Use DairyNZ tools and technology for pasture and feed management.
- Balance a feed budget to make the best decisions around managing feed requirements.
Who is it for?
The Feed for Profit course is for 2IC’s, farm managers, self-employed farmers, and farm owners with knowledge of pasture plants, rotation lengths, residual targets, and cow intakes. Learners must have access to farm pasture and feed information.
Course details
- Cost: Free
- Format: Short course: Four in-person workshops. Held in between milkings. Small class sizes (limited numbers)
- Qualification: Earn the Feed for Profit in the Dairy Industry Micro-credential (15 NZQA Level 5 credits)
Course requirements
To be eligible for our courses, you must be a New Zealand citizen, or hold a NZ resident visa, or a NZ work visa.
You will be required to complete an assessment to demonstrate your learning. You must bring a laptop (ideally) or device to course days to access course materials, editable documents, and assessments.
Course locations
This course includes four in-person workshops from 10am-3pm. Enrolments close when the course is full or one week before starting.
